Rare footage from Nintendo's groundbreaking EVR Race videotape-based arcade game, 1975
Released in 1975, Nintendo's EVR Race videotape-based arcade game, along with EVR Baseball, represented Nintendo's first foray into video games. They had players place wagers on a horse race, car race or baseball game, and then would play random video clips of the outcome. EVR stood for Electronic Video Recording, and was an interesting hybrid between videotape and film. A series of filmed images were etched onto thin strips, stored in round cartridges which were transmitted as video to an installed TV screen by a EVR player within the cabinet. While groundbreaking, the EVR games were notoriously unreliable in the field, and working or even intact cabinets today are extremely rare to non-existent.
These early film and video-based arcade games by Nintendo set the ground for their later video games like the powerhouse Donkey Kong in 1981, that put Nintendo firmly in the public consciousness in North America. No. From Bakshi himself this scene is not a mockery of religion. What they are practicing is along the lines of "these the parts of what people considered important to the world before. They got stuff wrong and added stuff that they thought would be better."

I played SPCWR at USC in 1972 while working on a BS in Electrical Engineering. The source code was stored on a stack of Hollerith cards, compiled on a $5e6 IBM 360/55 mainframe (machine time cost $500/sec), and downloaded to a $240K Adage vector graphics terminal, which had dual joysticks and footpedals. I remember playing that game from like 11PM to 4AM. I played this addictively, late at night, to the detriment of homework.

Tropical Trouble isn't one I had as a kid, but it actually made me think of Jungle Hunt for whatever reason, more so than Donkey Kong. I loved Microsurgeon and Swords & Serpents as a kid. The only problem with S&S is that there is no ending. You get to a dragon and that's it. There's no way to get near it or kill it, you just look at it forever. I've heard various reasons why there was no end. One is that the developer didn't think anyone could ever get that far so didn't bother to put in an ending, another is he ran out of time and they shipped it unfinished, I have no idea what the real reason is. Also had Beauty and the Beast. I had a friend who would come over and play it and get as high up as you could without winning then jump off the side of the building because he liked watching the character plummet head first all the way to the ground. I'm not sure he ever actually won it, honestly.

Aí se inicia a aventura para tentar voltar para a casa em um mundo diferente.
